Lab Grown diamonds are the diamonds of the future because of their cost efficiency, ethical sourcing and environmental consciousness.
What are lab grown diamonds?
Lab grown diamonds consist of actual carbon atoms, mimicking the crystal structure that is characteristic of mined diamonds. They are made of the same materials as natural diamonds, meaning they perform to the same optical and chemical properties and standards.
How are lab grown diamonds made?
Gasses are heated within a small chamber and layers are carbon begin to form, ultimately “growing” the lab grown diamond. Just like mined diamonds, lab grown diamonds are actual, true carbon crystals.
Are Lab grown diamonds real?
The only thing separating a lab grown diamond from a natural diamond is its origin. Our diamonds are grown inside a lab, while natural diamonds are mined from the earth. Our cutting-edge technology allows us to create lab grown diamonds with the same chemical, physical, and optical properties as mined diamonds. Even to the trained eye, lab growndiamonds are indistinguishable from mined diamonds.
What are the benefits of lab grown diamonds?
There are countless benefits to choosing a lab grown diamond as your forever stone. Here are a few notable benefits:
Cost: Lab grown diamonds are substantially less expensive than mined diamonds of equal size, color, and clarity. (Currently between 40% - 60% less.) Your money will buy you a bigger, cleaner, less inclusive, and more colorless diamond for a lower cost.
Cruelty-free: Lab grown diamonds avoid the often unethical labor and production practices of mined diamonds, dangerous conditions that created the terms “blood diamonds” and “conflict diamonds.” With a lab grown diamond, you can rest assured knowing the exact origin and holistic manufacturing story of your forever diamond.
Environment: Lab grown diamonds are inherently more sustainable than mined diamonds as they do not deplete the earth’s natural resources. Additionally, lab grown diamonds utilize far less energy to create than the diamond mining process.
What is the difference between Lab Grown Diamonds vs Mined Diamonds?
Lab grown diamonds have the same chemical, physical and optical properties as natural diamonds. Even when using the magnification of a jewelry loupe, the differences between lab grown diamonds and mined diamonds are barely perceptible. Only tests and specialized equipment can find the difference in trace elements that are produced when lab diamonds are grown, thus differentiating them from mined diamonds.
What is the difference between Lab Grown Diamonds vs Diamond Stimulants?
Diamond stimulants like cubic zirconia or moissanite look similar to diamonds but are not true carbon crystals, which means they do not have the same chemical, physical, or optical properties as natural diamonds. This is why they are sold at a much lower price point and can be distinguished as stimulants with simply the naked eye.
Meanwhile lab grown diamonds are actual, true carbon crystals, mimicking the same chemical, physical, and optical properties as natural diamonds. Therefore, lab grown diamonds are in fact, real diamonds. All of our lab grown diamonds are certified by an IGI Diamond Report, which is the same certification process as mined diamonds.
How Are Lab Grown Diamonds Certified And Graded?
Just like mined diamonds, all lab grown diamonds are sent to an independent gem lab to be reviewed and certified by an expert with the same process as traditional diamonds, focusing on the cut, clarity, carat and color of each gemstone (also known as The Four C’s). The cut refers to the brilliance of the diamond, the color refers to the amount of color found in the diamond, with the absence of color being more valuable, clarity refers to the appearance of the diamond in regards to any imperfection on the surface or in the stone, and carat is the measure of the diamond’s size and weight. Each diamond is examined carefully for the aforementioned qualities and assigned a quality rating.
